Volcanic blues came into my work by living by the Mediterranean sea but it was in my heart since the black sand beaches of Karekare, New Zealand, which is the one pictured here, and the Ibusuki sand bath in the Southern island of Kyushu, Japan. Black stoneware vessels glazed in a textured turquoise blue, that evoque volcanic sand beaches and the bright blue sky reflecting on it.
